About this event:

David Patterson, Professor of Music, invites all to an evening of choral and instrumental works performed by UMass Boston students, alumni, faculty, and guests. Patterson has been teaching at UMass Boston since 1972, and while not retiring, he says this is likely his last major concert of his compositions. A dramatic departure from his last concert, #Ferguson in 2016, composed in response to the Michael Brown shooting in his hometown of Ferguson, MO, Patterson presents compositions on caring, acceptance, and decorum: Butterfly Prayers, Isle of Hope, Sonata in Neo Sol, Cinematic Somnium, and others.

Featured performers include the UMass Boston Chamber Singers, directed by David Giessow, vocalists Ashley Villard '22 and Jessica Cooper, pianists Linnéa Bardarson and Timothy McFarland, saxophonist Gerardo Alvarado Rivas '23, flutist Ashley Addington, cellist Priscilla Taylor, and guest artist and vibraphonist Sarah Tenney.

“a charming bit of Americana” American Record Guide
